GREATGOLD NEWS – The Personality of Lloyd Price (above pic) always shined through whenever he sang from the time he started belting out any song in his repertoire back in the early 1950s and beyond. Although he passed away at age 88 on May 3rd, 2021, his recordings always continue to please when played on oldies stations like GreatGold.fm Internet Radio, the home of Classic Hit Oldies from the world of rock and pop from the 1950s through the 2000s. Lloyd Price was honored with awards and accolades by and from many music organizations during his lifetime. In 1994 he received recognition with a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation for being an early influence. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. In 2001 he was named to the National Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame. In 2010 he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and in 2019 Lloyd Price was inducted into the National Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame.
In addition to being an electric performer, Lloyd Price was an entrepreneur, songwriter, bandleader, record executive, and started and managed several non-music businesses including food brands and two housing construction companies.
Multi-Hall of Famer Lloyd Price was born in Kenner, Louisiana USA March 9, 1933 and died May 3, 2021 at age 88.
