GREATGOLD NEWS – 1960s Rock and R & B star Sam Moore, 89, has left this earthly world after complications following surgery. Sam Moore is best known in GreatGold music circles as the original half of the Sam and Dave duo who recorded the often heard “Soul Man” and “Hold On, I’m Coming” and other songs that drew the admiration and emulation by stars of many who followed. Moore was the high-pitched half of Sam and Dave, well known for the “call and response” style that often brought their singing performances to a feverish conclusion. A style that was utilized a few years later by “Saturday Night Live” stars Dan Akroyd and John Belushi in the “Blues Brothers” movie and on-stage presentations. Other songs associated with Sam Moore and Dave Prater are “You Don’t Know Like I Know”, “I Thank You” and “When Something is Wrong with My Baby”, among others.
