greatgoldnews_the-latest_350x350GREATGOLD NEWS – ANOTHER MEMBER of one of the greatest trios of the 1960s and 1970s, Peter Yarrow, has passed away at 86, after a four-year battle with bladder cancer. Peter Yarrow was one of the talented people from the iconic trio known as Peter, Paul and Mary, and the writer of songs sung by both the trio and other stars, including “Puff, The Magic Dragon”, perhaps one of Peter, Paul and Mary’s most well-known songs. Yarrow also co-wrote and produced “Torn Between Two Lovers”, a number one hit by Mary McGregor. Peter, Paul and Mary helped to popularize and solidify the early song writings crafted by Bob Dylan, by recording “Blowing in The Wind”, and “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right in the early 1960s. Other big hits recorded by the group included “If I Had a Hammer”, “The Times They Are a Changin’, “I Dig Rock and Roll Music”, “Leaving on a Jet Plane”, and others. Peter Yarrow died January 7, 2025. His PPM singing partner, Mary Travers preceded him in death, September 16, 2009, at 72. At this writing, Noel Paul Stookey, 87, is the only remaining member of the group.
